Jose Plaza is a sound designer based in Madrid, Spain. His first experience with sound mixing came as a teenager, recording and mixing lyrics in his room. However, it wasn’t until he studied audiovisuals that he discovered his passion for sound design. He began teaching himself sound editing and recording for audiovisual projects. After finishing his studies, Jose started his career in direct sound for film, advertising, and television, gradually deepening his focus on sound design. It’s the work he continues to do today, learning and evolving with each project.

In recent years, I’ve focused my work on sound design for advertising and fashion. I enjoy creating intricate soundscapes and experimenting with inventive montages. I’ve had the opportunity to work with several globally recognized brands, as well as directors and producers from various countries, which allows me to keep learning with each project. I approach the sound design of each project by drawing inspiration from its visual elements, placing great importance on aspects beyond sound, such as narrative, editing, cinematography, and color.

Working in the post-production phase of projects allows me to collaborate with directors and production companies worldwide. Working with new people also presents fresh creative challenges, which I enjoy. Although I often work on more conventional projects, I’m particularly passionate about contributing my perspective to more conceptual works, where I sometimes create entirely original soundscapes.
