Shinya Kumazaki is a Tokyo-based makeup artist who was born and raised in Tokyo. He has absorbed various influences, including Japanese traditions, and Tokyo's eclectic mix of culture, and fashion. His career began at a beauty salon where he worked as a hairdresser and learned the art of makeup under the guidance of an artist associated with Shu Uemura. After becoming a freelancer, he has undertaken work for beauty commercials, fashion editorials, and celebrities in Tokyo, Shanghai, and New York.

Shinya Kumazaki's style primarily centers around Asian beauty as he is consistently contemplating how to convey and disseminate Asian (and Japanese) beauty to the world more effectively as a Japanese makeup artist. Simultaneously, he has continued to be influenced by SERGE LUTENS. Consequently, his forte lies in expressing fantasy while retaining a realistic Asian aesthetic.
