Dou Weiqi is a photographer based in the Netherlands. He obtained his bachelor's and master's degrees in Financial Economics at Erasmus University Rotterdam. After graduation, Dou took a few years off, exploring the career path he was truly passionate about. He picked up fashion photography as a hobby, working with creatives in the Netherlands.

Later He started studying Business Administration at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, becoming a strategy consultant. In 2022, he receives her registration at the Netherlands Chamber of Commerce while fashion photography officially becomes his part-time job. In the past few years, Dou worked with many fashion magazines and brands in both China and Europe.

‘My main drive is working with different people in the fashion industry. Since I haven't spent a single day in art school, I enjoy seeing the sparkles from the collision of thoughts. I am inspired by Quentin Tarantino, especially by his dark humor.’

My mindset for photography is more or less like those long casual conversations in his movies, accompanied by the non sequitur. I am also a big fan of color. Even though humans are inferior to mantis shrimps in processing the colors perceived by cone cells (3 channels vs 12 channels), I believe humans can somehow feel the unnoticeable differences.

I am looking forward to creating photos that simply make people happy, with natural, pleasant, and delightful visuals. Stuffed with negative energy every day, I don't want to bring any more negativity to the world. Beyond the curation of color and the composition, I will try to see things without much distortion, just like the first time I see them.
