As an artist, I'm drawn to the vernacular quality in my photographs, exploring the duality of personal sentiment and public impact. I hold onto the sentimental power of individual and family photos while considering their social function and exhibition value. Ultimately, my work seeks to answer the question: How do we care for one another through both the creation and observation of photography?
My work delves into the interplay between images and reality, forging social bonds among people and spaces. Photography, to me, is a gesture of love, a tender act of holding someone's trust and vulnerability. Through my images, I aspire to create a shared haven, a collective sanctuary with my subjects. While art photography can be exploitative, capturing personal memories of loved ones is not. Through my work, I strive to be fully present and engaged with my subjects, establishing a genuine and empathetic connection.
